Pipe Relining in Ipswich

Relining fixes the pipe you have instead of digging it out. On a line under a driveway or a mature tree, that difference is the whole job.

How it works

A resin-saturated liner is drawn into the damaged section and cured in place, forming a new pipe inside the old one. The host pipe becomes a mould. No trench, no reinstating concrete, no removing a tree.

The internal diameter reduces slightly. On a standard sewer line that is not a practical problem.

When it is the right call

Cracked or root-invaded lines with the pipe still structurally present. Lines running under a driveway, a slab, a deck or an established tree, where excavation costs more in reinstatement than the plumbing.

When it is not: a fully collapsed line with nothing left to line, or a pipe so badly out of alignment that a liner cannot be drawn through.

What it costs and how to compare it

Commonly $400 to $900 a metre, so more than a clear-out and less than excavation once you count reinstating the surface. The honest comparison is not relining against clearing — it is relining once against clearing every eighteen months for the next decade, plus the risk of a failure at the worst possible moment.

Indicative pricing

Where this job typically sits. Access is usually a bigger cost driver than size.

JobIndicative priceWhat moves it
Standard call-out and first hour$150 – $300Business hours. Most plumbers charge a call-out that includes some labour.
After hours or emergency call-out$250 – $500Nights, weekends and public holidays carry a premium. Ask before you agree.
Clear a blocked drain (machine)$250 – $600Depends on access and how far down the blockage sits.
Drain camera inspection$250 – $450Often the difference between guessing and knowing. Sometimes bundled with a clear.
Replace a hot water system$1,500 – $3,500Electric storage at the lower end. Gas and heat pump run higher, plus any compliance work.
Repair a hot water system$200 – $700Elements, thermostats and valves are usually worth repairing. A rusted tank is not.
Burst pipe repair$300 – $900Accessible pipework at the lower end. Under a slab is a different job entirely.
Pipe relining, per metre$400 – $900More than a clear-out up front, less than excavation, and it lasts.
Replace a tap or mixer$150 – $400Plus the tapware. A dripping tap is often just a washer.

Prices here are indicative only. What a plumbing job costs depends on what is actually wrong, how accessible the pipework is, whether it is after hours, and what has to be replaced rather than repaired. You get a firm price from the plumber after they have seen it.
